Active Rest
We're back to reality today after enjoying a ton of "active rest" over the long weekend! So I didn't actually get in any workouts the past couple of days, but we were definitely on the move!
Active rest involves replacing your formally planned workout with another, less intense form of exercise. Don't get this "rest" confused with sitting on the couch watching Netflix.

There are some common health and fitness myths that never seem to get old. One being that lifting weights will make you big. THIS IS A MYTH!
Fact: as women we really don’t have the testosterone to put on big and bulky muscle. So if you are avoiding the weights, think again. Resistance training will actually help you lose weight faster and probably keep it off in the long run.

As a mom of one I am still learning how to balance everything and I still get uptight when things go off schedule. I hear this becomes easier when baby #2 arrives (no, I’m not pregnant). Exercise has helped manage my stress and I laugh a lot more because of it. So this weekend, get moving wherever and whenever you can!

12-Week NTM Progress Update - Cheyenne
WOW! Cheyenne is a 23-year old mother of 2 who came to me after struggling with another program that had on her too little calories and not a lot of guidance. We won't get into a lot of detail about which program she was following, but what Cheyenne needed was a customized plan that made sense for her life ... and her life only! Together we explored the best choices and tools she needed to achieve the results she wanted before returning to work from mat leave.

Here is a glimpse of my Sunday morning as I hustle get a smoothie made and the little one is messing with the dishwater. A year ago this scenerio would've stressed me out, but now I wouldn't change my life for a second. Don't get me wrong, I still love a clean house and a morning routine (well any routine for that matter), but there is something beautiful about the chaos that my daughter creates in my life. I love it!

It's been a long work week and I'm beat, but I was able to squeeze in a workout before heading home to be with the babes. I finished my session with a few kettlebell swings and some core work. Mommies, sometimes we just gotta do it!!

As mothers we are always on the go. We don’t stop. And even when we do, we are still constantly thinking of our to-do list.
Especially when it comes to getting results with working out and exercise, adequate levels of rest and sleep cannot be underestimated. Proper rest and recovery time helps to provide mental health, hormonal balance, and muscular recovery.

15-Minute HIIT Step Session
The rain is not stopping in Toronto, so we have to take our cardio indoors! How is everyone staying active in this wet weather?
