Celebrate Your Success!

As we approach the end of 2018, we often tend to focus on what we can do in 2019 to be better and we start putting goals in place for the new year. All of this is great, but it’s equally important to sit down and take some time to think about what you have accomplished in 2018 and recognize how effin’ amazing you are. Celebrate your success … because YOU DID GOOD, MAMA!

Truth: this was hard for me to do because I was also guilty of going down that negative slippery slope thinking of things I could’ve done better. Although this is completely out of my comfort zone, I thought that it would be helpful to take time to reflect and think about my own successes and share them with you. My hope is that this post inspires you to take a little time to acknowledge your accomplishments too!

What Am I Proud of This Year?

I gave birth to a baby girl!

After two miscarriages and frequent trips to the fertility clinic, there were moments where I felt like giving up. There were days I felt disappointed in my body for letting me down. But I didn’t give up. Today, I am proud to say I gave birth to a baby girl on March 7th, 2018.

I traveled to Colombia

This trip was on our bucket list. Our cousins got married there in September and sure, I was nervous about travelling with a 6-month old baby, but I did it! I can’t say it was easy, but it was worth every darn memory.

I spoke up!

If you know me then you know that sharing a lot of my personal life is very challenging for me. I was given the opportunity to share my journey to getting pregnant with Noa with Today’s Parent and I found it truly therapeutic.

I accepted my body.

After having my second baby I was in no rush to “bounce back”. I rested, relaxed and allowed my body time to recover. I saw a pelvic floor physiotherapist. I did not push myself to do mountain climbers or abs twists; instead I listened to my body.

We moved into our home!

After 7 years of waiting and over 12 years of being in a condo, we finally moved into our home. We had bought a place pre-consturction back in 2011 and when the builder went bankrupt, we had been upside down in limbo not knowing where we were going to live. We also fought this in a lawsuit and won - yay! This year we got the keys to our place. So happy and proud to call this little place our home!

I got on stage … more than once!

I’m that girl who is sweating and downing a glass of wine before any public speaking event. But guess what? This year I did this more than once and I am proud AF. The more I do it, the more comfortable I feel!

I made workouts WORK!

A lot of days I can’t make it to the gym, but I do what I can to make workouts WORK … with two kids in tow! I’m a big believer in just getting movement in and if that means 15 minutes of this (press play), then I’m all in! Plus, the girls have fun too!

I made self-care a priority!

This year I made a commitment to self-care. I made sure to book myself in for some pampering sessions, gym classes (because sometimes I need more than a workout with the kids in the family room), dinner with friends and date nights with the hubby. I did not make excuses despite how tired I was and regardless of my to-do list. In 2018, I made ME a priority.

Before the end of the year, will you promise to write down some things you are proud of? I guarantee this type of self reflection will set the stage for an incredible 2019!
