A Letter to My Little Ones
Have you ever written a letter to any of your children? I used to write Harper letters all the time when she was little, but as the years flew by and now with her little sister keeping me busy, it has been challenging to find some time to sit down and put pen to paper.
Today, I was inspired by the recent campaign ‘Dairy Done Right’ by Dairy Farmers of Ontario (DFO) that features a TV commercial where a real Ontario dairy farmer reads aloud a letter to his children detailing the values he hopes to instill in them. If you get a moment, I encourage you to watch it because it is a beautiful note that got me thinking about how I want to raise my girls with strong values too. After seeing this commercial it made me so proud to partner with Dairy Farmers of Ontario that I also decided to write Harper and Noa a letter and share it with you here on my blog. Maybe it will inspire you to write something to your little ones as well. In our fast-paced digital world, there really is something so special about writing a letter to your child that can never be replaced.
Dear Harper and Noa
I will start this letter by saying thank you. Thank you for making me a mother and for showing me what unconditional love really is. I know I don’t thank you both enough for everything you teach me daily. I am a better person because of you.
I know there are some days when I seem extra busy and nights when I can’t be home to tuck you in. I hope you know it is these times that I am thinking about you most. When I am working late, I hope you see that I am working so hard at something I love and believe in. My dream is that you both can find something you are so passionate about too that it sometimes keeps you up at night thinking about all the big ideas that will continue to fuel your fire.
My mom always told me to aim high and to never settle for less than what I wanted and deserved. I am writing this letter to tell you the same. I know you are both destined to do incredible things in this world. Your father and I emphasize the importance of kindness, gratitude and love in all that we do; we hope that you not only see this through our actions, but you feel this energy in our home every single day of your life and take it with you always.
Harper and Noa, I am so proud to be your mother and will always support you in all that you do. Again, thank you a million times over. I love you.
Always,
Mom xo
