Small Steps to Make 2025 Your Year
Hello, 2025! :)
January is a wonderful time to reflect and set intentions, but I know how easily our resolutions can get lost in the shuffle of daily life. This year, let's approach life with a fresh perspective—one that feels manageable and truly sustainable. Here are some intentions to consider as we step into 2025!
Refresh your routine
The simplest way to feel renewed is by rethinking your daily habits. Start with one or two small adjustments:
Swap scrolling for journaling in the morning. I have started charging my phone in another room to avoid grabbing it first thing and stick to my 5-minute gratitude journal, as I find it simple and easy.
Dedicate 10 minutes to movement—stretching, yoga, or a quick walk. I like to walk my daughters to school, so they keep me accountable to get out the door.
Create a nightly wind-down routine to improve your sleep quality. I set a bedtime alarm at 10PM!
These little tweaks can make a huge difference in how your days (and year) unfold.
Embrace a new mindset
Instead of focusing on rigid resolutions, try setting intentions that align with your values. Think of intentions as guiding principles rather than strict goals. For example:
“I will prioritize my well-being.”
“I will create meaningful connections.”
“I will approach challenges with curiosity, not fear.”
This mindset shift can help you stay motivated and compassionate with yourself.
Declutter your space and mind
Start 2025 by letting go of what no longer serves you. Spend a weekend decluttering your home—tackling one room at a time. As you clear your space, take some time to reflect on mental clutter too. Check out Diabetes Canada to have them pick up right from your doorstep or coordinate with a local community centre to drop off a donation. I love to support Jessie’s Centre here in Toronto, which is a multi-service centre for pregnant youth, young parents and their children.
Prioritize connection
This year, make time for the people who matter most. Plan regular family dinners, catch up with friends over coffee, or simply text a loved one to check-in. It’s these small acts of connection that create lasting memories and strengthen bonds.
Explore something new
2025 is the perfect time to step out of your comfort zone. Sign up for a class, pick up a hobby you’ve always been curious about, or plan a trip to a place you’ve never been. New experiences can spark creativity, joy, and growth.
