Form is Everything!

Proper form is everything! This girl is schooling me on her push up technique. When the boss says one more rep, I listen!

The pushup is a classic muscle-toning move that works the arms, the chest, the front of the shoulders and the triceps. Get the form right and this move you can do pretty much anywhere. Plus you can do variations of it to target different upper body parts!

Here's how you do the basic push-up:

1. Start in a high plank position.

Place your hands firmly on the ground, directly under shoulders. Ground your toes into the floor to stabilize your lower half. Brace your core, engage glutes and hamstrings, and flatten your back so your entire body is neutral and straight.

2. Lower your body.

Begin to lower your body, but keep your back flat and eyes focused about three feet in front of you to keep a neutral neck. Allow your chest to graze the floor when you lower your body. Don’t let your butt dip or stick out at any point during the move; think straight line from head to toe.

3. Push back up.

Keeping your core engaged, exhale as you push back to the starting position. That's one rep!
