The BEST Family Ski Trip!
I never thought I would be one to say I like winter, but this family ski trip was one for the books … and I would do it all over again next year too! My family just made our first trip out to Charlevoix Quebec and I have to say that this was the BEST family winter getaway and here’s why!
Follow Our Tracks
Our vacation started by flying into Quebec and taking a scenic shuttle ride (1.5hr) to the beautiful Club Med Quebec Charlevoix. Most people don’t know that this is Club Med's first North American Resort that is perched in the heart of the region, surrounded by the most stunning natural landscape with breathtaking views of the St. Lawrence River. Oh and did I mention, it’s also all-inclusive?!
King of the Hill
Not only is the resort beautiful, but the all-inclusive part was pretty impressive. We have been to our fair share of all-inclusive resorts down south, but never one like this. When we arrived we went straight to register our girls in lessons for the next day. Yup, lessons are included in your stay at no extra cost. Our eldest daughter can already snowboard, but opted for lessons anyway for a refresher and our youngest signed up for skiing. Lessons run all day, but kids break for lunch eating with the other kiddies or opt to meet up with their parents. At this point all that mattered was that our day 1 was smooth and easy with Club Med! I also share some tips here on successful family travel. I should say that the girls were just so excited to hit the slopes!
Do You Even Lift?
I forgot to mention that Lift Tickets are also included in your all-inclusive stay. I was so excited to be able to snowboard with my hubby because the girls were busy having fun in their lessons. We dropped our youngest at the mini club where she met tons of new friends. My eldest ended up in a private lesson and enjoyed hanging with her instructor all day long. We met them for lunch and both girls did not hesitate to return to their lesson in the afternoon. Warning: the views are unbelievable and may result in a slower pace down the hill! I highly recommend stopping to snap a pic. It might be cold, but you will want to capture this view!
To Ski or Not to Ski … that is the question
When the kids felt cold they were able to come in and play; Club Med staff has planned activities happening all day long. The girls enjoyed arial yoga, circus training and lots of dance parties. They also had one too many virgin strawberry daiquiris. All-inclusive just hits different, right? Meanwhile, when it came to me and my husband, anytime we decided to break from the slopes we also had several options, including checking into a fitness class, the spa or just enjoy some apres ski in the main theatre. Cheers!
Snow much to eat and drink
We all know that all-inclusive means all you can eat and drink and I’ll tell you now, we did not hold back. The food at this Club Med was delicious. The buffet offered stations where the food was plated for you on the spot - fresh. We enjoyed poutine, soup for our souls and the desserts were to die for. It was all made right there in front of you and not sitting in platters for hours on end!
Vitamin Ski
When we weren’t on the slopes taking in the sunshine, we made sure to make use of the outdoor hot tub or indoor pool. It was a a nice change for the kids, but they also begged to play ping pong or just run around with all the other kids in the Theatre area. I felt comfortable letting them roam there as we would enjoy some drinks at the bar watching them have a blast with all the new friends they met from the kids club!
The Snow Must Go On
The nightly entertainment was one of a kind! The girls looked forward to the shows because it was almost guaranteed they would see some fantastic circus performances. We were wow’d every day by the shows and pushed bedtimes for them too! Well worth it!
We’ll be back!
This winter trip was so enjoyable that we know it won’t be our last visit. The rooms were cozy and spacious, but we really just loved the ease of everything being included and available with so much convenience. I’m dreaming of staying in the Exclusive Collection Rooms next time we visit. It offers larger rooms, a private lobby and a hot tub sanctuary that also allows for kids to join their parents. Listen, we’ve always been beach people, but this trip really shifted our mindset to fall back in love with winter sports. I am grateful that Club Med hosted me and my family, but this trip is one I would wholeheartedlly recommend to friends and family. We’ll be back!
