How To Stay Active this Fall

As fall rolls in and the temperatures cool down, it’s the perfect time to stay active and enjoy the season with your family. Toronto offers plenty of opportunities to get moving, whether you’re looking for outdoor adventures or trying something new indoors. Here are some fall active family activities to keep everyone energized:

1. Walk, Ride, Run

Embrace the cooler weather without the snow and keep up with the outdoor activities like walking, bike rides and running. The fall colours make movement outside that much more enjoyable. The fall is a perfect time to get some outdoors to exericse and soak in the natural beauty of the short season. We have stuck to our family tradition of going for a short walk after dinner!

2. Try Out Some New Lessons

Why not make this fall about learning something new? Consider signing up for lessons in a new sport or activity. My kids have recently been taking squash lessons at 10XTO, and they’re absolutely loving it. It’s a fantastic way to keep the whole family active, and squash is a sport that everyone can enjoy, no matter their age or skill level.

3. Plan a Day or Weekend Trip Outside Toronto

A day or weekend trip outside the city can be a refreshing change of pace. Whether you’re hiking in nearby conservation areas or simply going for a walk at Brickworks in Toronto, a short adventure can help keep the family active while enjoying the fall landscape. If you’re up for doing a mini getaway, consider a visit to Montreal, which feels like being in Europe without being in Europe! If Montreal is on your list, consider staying at Le Centre Sheraton Montreal Hotel for a comfortable and convenient stay. PS - Don’t miss the Rope Course in the Old Port in Montreal … it’s not for the faint of heart, but it’s definitely a good workout!

4. Head to a local farm

We are so lucky to have some incredible farms just outside of Toronto where you are sure to get in some movement while you’re there. Whether it’s a corn maze, apple picking or visiting the pumpkin patch, the entire family will be on their feet having fun! We do love Downey’s Farm!

5. Don’t miss out on Toronto events

Take advantage of Toronto’s event scene during the fall season, like Nuit Blanche that happens in October or The Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in November. There is always something exciting happening in our city and kids love these unique experiences! And if it’s not an event, check out the concert listings because Toronto has an incredible music scene and there are concerts happening all the time. If you scored some extra Taylor Swift tickets, please let me know because that would make my daugthers’ dreams come true!

Hope this helps your family stay active and connected while making the most of the fall season in Toronto 🍁
