Why I’m Moving for Men’s Health This Movember 💙

Every November, we start seeing moustaches everywhere — on faces, in social media posts, and across fundraising pages. But beyond the fun and facial hair, Movember carries a message that hits close to home for me: men’s health matters, and it needs more of our attention.

Movember started as a small idea in Australia - a few men growing moustaches to spark conversations about prostate cancer. Two decades later, it’s become a global movement funding groundbreaking research and community programs for men’s mental health, suicide prevention, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer.

But what makes Movember powerful isn’t just the fundraising - it’s the awareness it brings to conversations we don’t have often enough.

Because here’s the truth: Men are less likely to talk about their health. They’re less likely to go to the doctor. And they’re more likely to suffer in silence.

How You Can Get Involved

You don’t need to grow a moustache to make a difference (though if you can, more power to you!). Here are a few ways to join the movement this month:

1. Move for Movember.

Set a movement goal — walk, run, bike, or lift — and dedicate it to the men you love. It’s a powerful way to raise awareness and keep yourself active too.

2. Start a conversation.

Ask the men in your life how they’re really doing. Don’t let “I’m fine” be the end of the conversation.

3. Encourage check-ups.

Remind your partners, fathers, brothers, and friends that prevention saves lives. Early detection makes all the difference.

4. Donate or share.

Whether it’s $5 or $50, every bit helps fund lifesaving research and programs. If you’d like to donate, visit the link here. And if you can’t donate, sharing someone’s story (like mine!) still spreads awareness.

A Gentle Reminder

Movember isn’t just about men growing moustaches; it’s about all of us growing awareness, empathy, and connection.

Because men’s health isn’t just a “men’s issue.”
It’s a family issue.
It’s a community issue.
It’s a human issue.

So this month, let’s start more conversations, move more intentionally, and remind the men in our lives that strength isn’t about staying silent. It’s about showing up, asking for help, and taking care of themselves.

For my husband, my dad, and every man who’s ever put others first — this one’s for you. 💙
