Find out what we are doing for #GivingTuesday
Do you know what Giving Tuesday is? We all know about Black Friday, Cyber Monday, but not everyone knows about the day dedicated to the community: Giving Tuesday. This December 3rdis the 7thannual GivingTuesday! It is it now a global movement for giving and volunteering. As a proud ambassador for Plan International Canada, I am happy to help spread their message this #GivingTuesday about giving the gift of education!
Your Greatness is Not What You Have, but What You Give
I feel so good about being part of the Plan International Canada team and love being able to use my platform to help make an impact. Plan International Canada’s Gifts of Hope help to bring tangible goods and vital services to those most in need around the world. They are real gifts that go to real projects in the in the communities where Plan International Canada works – and these gifts change real lives.
What does this mean?
Many charitable gift catalogues direct your donation as they see fit. But with Plan International Canada, your donation goes directly to the gift you choose! For example, for Harper’s birthday she created a wish list that included helping to equip a school benefiting more than 8,000 boys and girls in the Philippines. We explained that she would be helping students secure uniforms, school supplies and meal programs.
#GIVINGTUESDAY
This December 3rd, Plan International Canada has set a goal of raising $100,000 for school essentials for children in need. I always think about how lucky Harper is. Things like school supplies and books are readily accessible to her. To think that there are so many children who aren’t in the same shoes as Harper when they go to school is mind blowing. This Gift of Hope is helping to fill schools in developing countries with just the basic supplies to help give students the best possible education and the best possible start to a better life.
Did you know that 263 million children, adolescents and youth are out of school?
That’s 7 times the entire population of Canada. This is crazy to think because education is an essential human right that should be guaranteed to all! Millions of children are unable to get to school or stay there due to obstacles like poverty, gender inequality, and exploitation. This holiday season, we can all help make a difference here by giving back with the gift of School Essentials because everychild deserves the chance to unleash their full potential!
